The OFFTAKERS SME Initiative is the flagship project of the Brilliance and Purposeful Foundation (BPF), with the sole aim of promoting local content and helping the least accessed in the Nigerian society, otherwise known as the poor. AT BPF, we do not see anyone as being poor, rather we see every Nigerian citizen as an asset which if harnessed can turn around their individual and family fortunes, as well as the economic overview of the country Nigeria and even the world at large.
The OFFTAKERS SME Initiative, a brain child of the founder of The Brilliance and purposeful foundation, is targeted and designed to buy-off what is produced by Nigerian Entrepreneurs who are at least producing one thing or the other.
Reliable statistics shows that we have become more of a consuming nation than a producing one. Nigeria’s economy has been stagnant, growing at less than 1% cumulatively during the past six years, far below population growth of 2.6%. It also has about 40% of the population of about 200 million living below the poverty line. Unemployment rate in Nigeria rose from 27.1 percent to 33.3 percent from December to March 2021. Inflation in Nigeria has consistently been on the increase for 12 months, rising from 12.2 percent in February 2020 to 17.33 percent in February 2021, (according to the report released by the National Bureau of Statistics). More than 100 million Nigerians have gone back into poverty making us the poverty capital of the world ahead of India, according to World bank report 2020.
Against this backdrop, the OFFTAKERS SME Initiative is a solution to tackling this menace headlong. The OFFTAKERS SME Initiative will target and bring to limelight grass root small scale manufacturers cutting across all sectors of the nation’s economy via online entry submissions and on-the-street assessment. The OFFTAKERs team of assessors, would then shortlist and buy-off the products of one small scale manufacturer completely every week. This project would run from January to December every year so as to accommodate as many entrepreneurs as possible. Items bought will then be given out in form of charitable services (Humanitarian) as well as being sold (access to market) in our “OFFTAKERS’ Monthly Mini Trade fair”. We believe that this will showcase and equally promote these entrepreneurs as well as boost their morale so that they can do more. This will also create a balance in the economy between the richest of the richest and the poorest of the poorest. We know that this is not a popular project and it is not going to be easy, but we are ready to take on this daunting task to help put smiles on the beautiful faces of Nigerians.
Our goal is to take Nigeria back to her glory days where she was a leading producer/manufacturer of goods in the Global economic space, in order to salvage the country from its current consuming status to a rebranded Producing status. We hope to make more than 500,000 Entrepreneurs successful over the next 10 years, creating more than 5 Million Jobs and attracting more than $200 Billion Dollars Investment to Nigeria over this same period.
